Never be afraid to be challenged.
A frank and honest view of building a business from the ground up put into true Yorkshire speak…chuffin ard werk.
Shout out to my fellow entrepreneurs who know just how quickly an idea can evolve and often how your idea is the best idea anyone has ever had, ever, no really, EVER!
Chances are, your idea is pretty great, and if it isn’t yet, it could be. This is the point where you have to look outside of your ecosystem, move away from those who know you and get some, here it comes…..outside help!
Collective Stories is a Yorkshire business, tiny and focussed but with great ambitions. We pride ourselves on bringing insight, trends and classic category management to our clients to help maximise retailer relationships. We do this by telling your consumer & product stories, beautifully.
Is Collective Stories the finished article? Have we learnt everything we will ever need to know? Do we just want to tell our customers what to do? Nope, nope and again, nope!
Learning, evolving and pivoting with our partners is the basis of most of our client projects, the clue is in the name. Our stories are truly Collective.
Collective Stories blend data, shopper insight and trends, we spend our days asking shoppers and consumers what they think of products, categories and retailers, we love feedback!
In the UK we have a culture based on feedback, we seek it in our workplace with the 360 degree feedback forms we send out to our friends or our constant scrolling for likes and emojis on social media.
True, honest and essentially real feedback combined with a new perspective can be really uncomfortable, what you do with this insight will define your success.
In Yorkshire we have the amazing Ad:venture programme, sessions are really practical, engaging and above all relevant. Check out their schedule for this year if you haven’t already.
I’m proud to say that I recently took part in the Leeds Beckett Accelerate Program, we even made quite a fancy video about it. If you are an entrepreneur who wants to be engaged and challenged by a very talented gang of experts, this is the right place for you. If you view feedback and challenge as a necessary but ultimately box ticking exercise, continue sending feedback forms to your pals….maybe even your parents.
Never be afraid of a challenge, there are many motivational wall hangings telling us this, seek out this challenge wherever you can. If you seek and accept help from some of the frankly wonderful organisations we have here in Yorkshire, you can accelerate on your journey to creating a reyt cracking bobby dazzler of a business, something really special, your very own passion project.
